Film review - Pari ( not a fairytale )

Hello and welcome back!

This is a movie review of a recently released Bollywood movie sent in by one of our readers - Writisha Roy. Here is what she has to share!

Hi friends. So, this is indeed a busy time for school students, with ICSE exams already begun and CBSE board exams beginning today. But for college students and other students, whose semester exams are way down in the month of April or May or June have definitely planned to celebrate their Spring bonanza with a movie in their agenda. And many would wish to have a review before actually going out with friends or your special someone, just to save you from later embarrassment over a wrong choice of movie. And despite boards, many like me love to catch the movies to refresh their minds and resume studies. So, today, I share this review of the film - Pari ( not a fairytale ) with you all, which I caught first day first show - as I am a big fan of Anushka Sharma and have a crush on Parambrata as well.

Well - the first and foremost warning that I would love to give all those friends who are not so brave-hearts or are scared of spooky stuffs - you may skip this movie. With the plot and scenes designed exactly to match up the standards of a horror movie, well, it did much better. Many actually gave out screams in between. So, if you do not wish to have a movie which would haunt you throughout the week, which this movie is sure to do with excellent acting prowess displayed by Anushka and effects shot splendidly by cameraman Jishu Bhattacharya - rendering these scenes an effect which makes it very hard to believe they are unreal,  well, this is not your choice then. But of course, if you actually wish to go for a horror movie- just go for it.

Well, the storyline begins somewhat like this...

Arnab, a simple handsome young man was returning home with his parents in his car after having a marital negotiation meeting with a girl named Piyali. On the way, an old lady suddenly lands in front of their car, and dies in the accident. It is however given the nature of a suicide case. However, Arnab feels sympathetic towards Ruksana - who is the daughter of the dead old lady, who eventually gets to stay at the residence of Arnab. Meanwhile, we also get to know about professor Kasim Ali, who runs some certain kinds of organisation. And we also get to know that he is on a hunt for Ruksana and wants to kill her.
Why? Well, this is will be revealed when you watch the movie.

Overall, what I felt was the storyline got dragged in between due to love - angles introduced in the plot, which did frame a necessary part to touch out certain integral themes like - is it that the ladies who get left out and ousted by the society turn to be witches or sorcerers; is it only they who escape the reality and turn ill - omen for everyone; against whom do we fight if the bad resides somewhere deep within our own self; do we really succeed in fighting with ourselves to the extreme. Many questions like these, yet, answers got jumbled up somehow. Well, these questions could have been dealt in a better manner in the story by director Prasit Roy. However, the climax of this movie has a unique perspective in it.

Overall, this was a scary horror movie with excellent scenes and acting deliveries. And, like me if ghost story is your genre, then what are you waiting for! Just go and grab your ticket and enjoy - your moment encounter with the worlds of the unknown...

Well, that was all. We hope that Writisha has cleared your doubts about this movie, and helped in choosing if it is for you. So, if it is, we urge you to go about and enjoy a great movie-time in the spooky-land. And, we thank Writisha for sharing this movie-review with us.

Stay tuned for the next. And, till then, Stay happy, Stay healthy, Stay safe.
