#Poem-3 - Winter in Present times

Hello and welcome back! This is the 4th in series and 3rd poem, chosen from the submissions of Christmas Carnival. Winter in Present times - by Gurupada Chakraborty The chilly wind Blows across the balcony And tic-tac It drizzles along. On my table beside the window I sit for studies; Giving out a large yawn. Who wishes to care for semester In this pleasant alluring winter. If only the fog ceased to be deadly- If Dilli would be pollution free, With a wind-cheater over my back for sure, I would have embraced the weather - oh! so lovely. I would have walked down the streets of Chandni-Chowk To gorge some yummy golgappas, And with sight as sharp as hawk Would have measured the quantities of masalas- Would have a bitter-sweet deal with chacha Iqbal or bhai Anil, Yet at the end-would have got away With an extra piece or 5 rupee less, so to say. Or, would have caught up with aunt Bhatnagar, And had a ladies time together.

#Poem-2 - The winter night

Hello and welcome back. This is the 3rd in series and 2nd poem sent during the Christmas Carnival. The winter Night - Ruma Chakraborty Silent she sleeps after a tiresome day, With snores like whistles  making their way, out of her nose - into the black little room, shaking the bristles of the broom. It's the night of winter New moon.. She is disciplined and tough. Her ambience has turned her rough. So, now she speaks with a scruff  - strictly instructing everyone As the clock strikes One! Everyone - should be fast asleep. Or else face the uninvited guests, who would put your courage to test, in this dark wintry New moon night - wearing a black shroud and no light. Hence, for your safety's sake; follow the rule - early to bed and early you awake. And, for further precaution - drink less water at night- to avoid the toilet fright. After all, who would dare to pull your hair while you are under your blanket - dear

Oh! From which river flowing relentlessly, - do I get energy - to reach my destination. Mere asking is not enough. The bell is ringing from the distant temple. The disciples of Lord come and go. Shall I reach my destined land! How far do I have to go? From beginning to end, The rhythm of life - the picture of everyday life -  is, I run and run to get what I want. The stars of life are still bright, the flame of the earthen lamp - still alive So, with hope and fear - o' dear, I wonder -  How far do I have to go! We all applaud Mrs. Minati Gupta - who has a very strong passion for

Well, you might be thinking why this New Year wish took so long - being on the 7th of January instead of 1st January. Well, do you know - yesterday the 6th of January was day of "Armenian Christmas" According to an article in the website peopleofar.com :    “Armenian Christmas,” as it is popularly called, is a culmination of celebrations of events related to Christ’s Incarnation. Theophany or Epiphany (or Astvadz-a-haytnootyoon in Armenian) means “revelation of God,” which is the central theme of the Christmas Season in the Armenian Church.
