1)  PERINATAL DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY - FROM PREVALENCE TO PREVENTION About the Project: This PhD position is situated in a larger two-part research study on perinatal depression and anxiety in perinatal women. The perinatal period (defined as pregnancy and the first postnatal year) is a period of important changes and considerable adjustment for parents. Up to 20% of (expectant) mothers report perinatal maternal mental health problems (PMH).  The first part of this larger study concerns a longitudinal epidemiological study of PMH problems in (expectant) mothers referred to the outpatient clinic of the university hospital of Leuven. The main objective of the first part of this study is to improve the prediction and ultimately the prevention of PMH problems in women in the perinatal phase.  The second part of this project focuses on expectant mothers with moderate risk to develop perinatal depression.
