Feeling lonely in the rains - take up a hobby at home

Hello everyone. This is your friend Prabhasini back again, with another pretty interesting solution to a widespread problem - the feeling of loneliness.

The rains have set in, and it is really very difficult to have any outdoor pursuit in this weather, unless you can manage to go on a long drive. However, your busy schedule combined with that of your parents or friends, make it really impossible to plan something far off. And, there you lie on your couch in the quiet afternoon - feeling dull and bored. You are not a bookish nerd, to keep studying 24x7, and indeed you feel eager to have a productive pass time.
Or, you might have recently had a break-up, and wish to engage yourself in something else altogether, not wine, not sleeping pills, but a dose of creative immersion, which would relieve your pain and let you breathe free and start afresh. But the weather is certainly replicating your inner feelings, which you find disgusting.
Or, you somehow feel low.

Well, if this is you, then let me tell you that their is indeed a love-life that you can have which will fill out the void in your life. And of course,  by love-life I do not at all mean a sweetheart, by which you might run the risk of having a heart ache, leaving you feeling more empty. Rather, I mean that you have an activity to do - almost regularly, and whenever you are free but cannot just go out about on your foot, an activity - you develop into your hobby. And trust me, there are a plethora of hobbies which can be done within the comfort of your home.

Here is just a small compilation. Of course, the rest can also be imagined and innovated by you, and shared for our readers to read.

1. Reading - And please do not get me wrong. By this, I mean the huge collection of painstackingly written books by the authors across the globe, on a multitude of subjects. Apart from your academic books, a great novel is bound to inspire and motivate you, to choose a course of action in life giving you success. Often, it has been reported by psychologists, that good books, which are so well written that people immerse in the story as if it is theirs, and later, try to inculcate the grand qualities of the characters. It also seems to solve a lot of seemingly complex problems of life, just because we then, perceive the story in front of us, instead of dealing with the ambiguous reality we might be in.

2. Writing - A well written story can speak a lot about the mind of the writer. And, in case you feel you have no one to talk to, follow this advise, cited by many established writers and psychologists - both happiness and sorrow, achievement and loss, or any upheaval of emotions are best brought down upon the surface as writing masterpieces, as then, words enjoin themselves automatically, as if they were woven together; one after the other. It will not only bring out your inner feelings, it will also help present a picture of whats really going on within you, which is really necessary in order to check any serious ill-thoughts.

3. Drawing and painting - A picture speaks a million words, yet there is no sound. And the impact - everlasting. It is an excellent hobby, any one can posses, as it creates an exact imagery, with the curves and color shades, of what is within the hearts of the artist. Further, it is a liberating process as well. Along with it, it also gives one an immense pleasure of seeing ones creative imagination come alive.

4. Stitching and Embroidery - With so much financial instability, and uncertainty over price of materials, with prices increasing almost every other day, what if you could buy a raw at a very nominal price, and transform it into a masterpiece. What if people look at you in awe, and wish to know the designer of the outfit you wear. Wouldn't it be a moment of pride, when the answer would be - it is self crafted. You can do anything and everything with this skill. The sky is the limit to your imagination.

5. Knitting and crocheting - Continuing from the 4th hobby above, if people know you to be creative, why give it a miss in the winters. Knitting and crocheting are another hobby you can specialize in. Moreover, these are easier and quicker to complete than embroidery. Hence, these are perfect for you, if you feel, you would not devote anything more than 15 to 20 minutes in this activity.

6. Fabric painting - So, you do not wish to engage in yarn work, and love the colors and prints more. Then, you can go for fabric painting. And it can be done on your garments and beyond. Have a wooden or clay vase, a glass flower - stand, your own glass of water, your pencil box, your pen stand, your mobile cover, purse, soap case, serving trays, just think of anything you want to add a dab of color to. And, it is indeed an easy activity to accomplish.

7. Origami - Also commonly known as the paper craft - involves making a variety of shapes using just paper. You fold your paper this way and that, and you get - may be a rose, a bird, a boat, a house, a doll, any flower of your choice, any animal figure, any beautiful decorative piece, an whatever you wish to make. You can beautify you home with your collection.

8. Cooking -  Love your food! great. Why not love preparing it, with a personal touch of creativity and innovation. Indeed, cooking too, is a great hobby, and a great way to impress your mother, while bringing out the talented chef within you.

These are the excellent eight hobby collection, that I am sharing with you. And, the one thing in common to all of them, which is their best part, is that you do not need  to step out of your home to accomplish any of them. Yet, these can be successfully pursued, while giving you the much needed relaxation, and relief.

Indeed, will love to know more of your hobby ideas. Do send in your email - aamiprabhasini@gmail.com
