The winter Night
- Ruma Chakraborty
Silent she sleeps
after a tiresome day,
With snores like whistles
making their way,
out of her nose - into the black little room,
shaking the bristles of the broom.
It's the night of winter New moon..
She is disciplined and tough.
Her ambience has turned her rough.
So, now she speaks with a scruff
- strictly instructing everyone
As the clock strikes One!
Everyone - should be fast asleep.
Or else face the uninvited guests,
who would put your courage to test,
in this dark wintry New moon night -
wearing a black shroud and no light.
Hence, for your safety's sake;
follow the rule - early to bed and early you awake.
And, for further precaution - drink less water at night-
to avoid the toilet fright.
After all, who would dare
to pull your hair
while you are under your blanket - dear!
Indeed she cares for everyone!
Even more as the clock strikes One.
It's the night of winter New moon.
The grey ladies would be here soon,
riding on their broom.
And so, she's fast asleep.
We thank Ruma, for sending in such a lovely poem. We encourage you to continue with your writing endeavour, and keep posting more stuffs.
