Aiming for an International medical career? New Regulations Allow Indian MDs to Practice in the Philippines. Read on...

Hello and Welcome back Chaibuddies! Today I got some great news to share in this short blog.

Indian students who complete their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from a Philippine college are now eligible to register and practice medicine in the Philippines. This change follows an amendment to the Philippine Medical Act of 1959, approved by the House of Representatives, which allows international students, including Indians, to practice medicine in the Philippines upon completing their MD degrees.

Colleges must be recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and aspirants must complete a 12-month internship. CHED will issue the necessary certification to ensure a smooth transition for Indian graduates if all conditions are met.

Previously, only Philippine citizens with a Doctor of Medicine degree could qualify for the physicians’ licensure examination. But now it's open to other nationalities including Indians. The Philippines, with 64 authorized medical schools, attracts aspiring doctors worldwide by offering high-quality education at competitive costs and significantly lower tuition fees than Western countries. The US-aligned curriculum supports smooth transitions to international careers and is backed by globally recognized residency programs, according to an official statement.

This provision is particularly beneficial for Indian medical students, who increasingly choose the Philippines for medical education due to its high quality, English-medium instruction, and affordable living costs.

And the cherry on the top: These New regulations align with the Indian Medical Commission's requirements, enabling Indian graduates to practice medicine in India after obtaining their MD degrees from the Philippines! This is like saving Indian students from a massive nightmare about ones future after pursuing medical abroad.

And with NTA NEET scam, I know many of you are indeed thinking about giving it a shot abroad. You may also enjoy reading my article:
