Evils of Junk Food

The festive season is coming near. And, for many, it has already begun with the preparations which largely means - shopping. And, while we go about shopping, we often do not find time to cook food at home. The obvious choice for most of us then, is to savor up the delicious food from the plethora of eateries. And, the most common choice is made in preference of "Junk Food".

Indeed, they are tasty. Often, they are easily available and time - savvy as they can be made instantly. But, is this choice made in a flick, really a healthy choice in the long run. Let's find out the evils of Junk Food.

First and foremost, these food stuffs are really low in terms of nutritional value. They might fill up your tummy with those extra carbs, but your body gains nothing by consuming them.
Next, as these are only adding carbs to your body, your risk of being obese increases. And, we all know the harmful affects of being obese. Apart from these harmful affects, think about the beautiful dresses you have bought. Imagine, the outfit which was perfect a month ago suddenly has your tummy bulging out of it. Wouldn't it feel awkward along with being dis-heartening.

Most of these Junk foods are deep fried, and the oil used in majority of the cases is adulterated. Therefore, consuming these foods leads to digestive problems like indigestion and constipation. Frequent intake of these might lead to gastrointestinal re-flux disease and irritable bowel syndrome.

The stomach is very much related to the heart. And your heart beat is really precious. But, these foods -  loaded with saturated fats and trans fats builds up triglyceride and bad cholesterol level in the blood, contributing to plaque formation and heart disease.

As these foods lack in most of the vital nutrients required by our body, consuming these as substitute to meals on a regular basis, would lead to other problems as well, like fatigue, weakness, hypertension and depression. After all, while our body is being harmed, how can our mind stay healthy.

The solution - make a smart choice of healthy foods, over junk foods. Switch over to carrying sprouts, which can be easily consumed anywhere quickly. It not only keeps your tummy filled, it is also a healthy choice for your sustenance.

You can also choose to take home cooked snacks along with you as then, you would be sure about the oil used by you apart from the healthy cooking methods followed.

And, do atleast carry your water bottle, instead of purchasing them from roadside stands. For the sake of ease, carry bottles, which can be crushed after used. Or, carry bottles which can be tucked around your waist with a carrier belt.

So, enjoy festive fervour - Say no to Junk Food.
