Hello everybody and wish you all a very happy friendship day. Hope you all had or will have a great time today with your friends, celebrating a grand way. Even if your friends live miles away, I am sure, atleast today you would have taken out time from your busy schedule and wished them - a very happy friendship day.
Well, today I would rather tell you all, a story about a girl who is just like all of us.
She was born in a well-to-do family, and because her father had a transferrable job, she also had the opportunity to travel to a lot of places and make lots and lots of friends. Then, with time, as technological development also changed the way we keep company, she and all her friends shifted to the net zone. And loyalty and trustworthiness began being measured in committed strings of likes and comments. Initially what began as a matter of convenience shifted to being an established trend. And all these friends and the girl, unknowingly entered in a competition series - who has the best life of all. And the focus wasn't friendship anymore.
Although everybody wrote all kinds of wishes on everyone's wall. And that was it. Nobody was really bothered except for the statistics.
However, on one occasion, when she went out to the she encountered an incident which changed her life completely.
She had gone out to the market accompanying her mom, a task she hated nowadays as she felt her mom to be not so cool enough and unable to keep pace with her fast paced life, and worst of all - unable to understand her at all.
Yet, she had to follow along. And that day, she didn't receive the expected number of responses to one of her made especially for that day. Hence she was feeling extremely low and irritated.
At one place - near one of the crossroads, the mother daughter duo stopped to have something to eat at a popular store, which had glass walls, thereby, enabling a good view of the city streets.
While she was waiting for the order to be served, she say -
An old man, might be in his 80s, with a broken down fragile health, trying to cross the busy road, with a stick in his hand. His hands were shaking, might be due to his worn out strength, hence, the grip over the stick wasn't too strong either. He sought help from others who too, were crossing the street, but everyone turned a headphone popped ear, and pushed past him. He felt extremely miserable and helpless. And then, suddenly to that man's good luck, an youth approached him. They spoke for a while, then the young man held the hands of the old man, firmly, and while the old man seemed to be whispering constantly to this young man, together they crossed the road. And somehow, they happened to enter the same eatery where the girl was sitting. And they chose a table just beside the girl. And she overheard their conversation wherein, they thanked each other as friends. Further, she also got to know that the young man was blind. But, he was young and sturdy enough to help the old man. The old man had lost his health, but his eyes were strong enough to guide both of them. And indeed both of them were friends - as they shared there respective strengths with each other in the hour of need.
Isn't it what friendship is. And indeed, it is. It doesn't exist in the virtual world, has weeknesses of each, but, in time of need, both combined there best abilities to support each other.
And that was Friendship day. Where both of these stranger turned friends wished each other the same.
This changed the perception of the girl - she realised that virtual connection might help us keep contact, but real relations thrive and survive in reality. We often complain - that we didn't get the expected popularity in the virtual world, and keep our minds engrossed with the resulting frustration, yet, we let our logical minds forget - matters of heart can be sorted out only when there exists another heart. And we do not find a real world in virtuality, do we.
Hence, if you have just cared to send a one liner or a simple status, then go out, reach out to your friend and wish them in a special way - A happy friendship day.

Good one
ReplyDeleteFriendship has become a relationship built upon keypad and without any emotion feeling touch of himanity promise etc. It is now a product measured by number of like comments and not sharing of good times or bad times and joy of sacrifice. The story Prabhasini narrated brought tear in my eye for my friends who always are with my side in my journey of life.
